LUX ANGELES ROSTER

BJ Emery

Editor

BJ Emery began his career in the unscripted world when he moved to LA in 2013. His experience includes cutting branded and social videos for companies such as Hollywood Report, Buzzfeed, Vibe, and Variety; short semi-scripted content for YouTube, Google, and Universal; and internal development sizzles for MTV, Viacom, and Collins Ave. In 2018, BJ transitioned to scripted television, working on Kevin Williamson's "Tell Me A Story." His success as an assistant on that show led to the next position at Disney, where he was promoted to editor within the first month. As an editor on Disney's "Secrets of Sulphur Springs," BJ cut for 3 seasons and over a dozen episodes. During his time on the show, it grew in popularity, moving from Disney Channel to Disney+, and earning an Emmy nomination for best-scripted show in its 2nd season. Between seasons, BJ edited the pilot season for Apple TV's "Surfside Girls" with producers Paul Stupin and May Chan. He also worked as an assistant and an additional editor for Michael Mann's pilot episode of "Tokyo Vice." Recently BJ has been editing features for GalateaTV and most recently is on a documentary with plans to land at the Sundance Film Festival. BJ's focus as an editor is on the emotion of a story, and he regularly receives praise for his pacing. As an improv and stand-up comedian, he also has a knack for comedic timing. He is particularly passionate about the horror genre and enjoys creating tension and suspense through sound design and cutting patterns. He has confidence in his ability to tackle any scene or troubleshoot any issue that may arise during production with a calm and collected demeanor.
